Jorge Rossy & Michael Kanan - Jamboree Jazz

Jorge Rossy vibraphone and Michel Kanan piano.

Mas i Mas ’23 has the honour of welcoming, for the first time anywhere, a duo consisting of the pianist Michael Kanan and the multi-instrumentalist Jordi Rossy, in this case on vibraphone. Kanan and Rossy are members of a unique golden generation, who, at the beginning of the ‘90s, stirred up the jazz scene and built a profitable bridge between New York and Barcelona. That made the Jamboree a regular venue for top-class performances by the likes of Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner and Kurt Rosenwinkel, among others. Since then, Kanan and Rossy have continued to work together in different projects and formats – in a quartet, for example, or accompanying the singer Mayte Alguacil. This time, they will play in the Plaça Reial club for the first time as a duo, with a series of pieces specially arranged for this very unusual line-up: piano and vibraphone. The repertoire will include a selection of standards and one or two surprises.
