The Bilbao-born musician based in Barcelona presents the second record by the band Grebalariak, Azken Uda (Errabal Jazz, 2024). The Last Summer features ten compositions by the Basque trumpeter, marking a step forward in the trajectory of this committed and defiant band. The album was going to be called Aterpe (shelter in Basque). Jazz musicians, like mountaineers, need shelters (jazz clubs, associations…) to endure the steep path. Places to rest, gather strength, and find meaning in what we do. This summer, my mother passed away, and I decided to change the name of the album. In memoriam.
