For the first time in the history of the Barcelona Jazz Festival, the Artist Portrait is not dedicated to an individual, but to a group. In 2025, it’s the turn of La Vella Dixieland, founded in 1980 and now celebrating 45 years of music. Inspired by Duke Ellington’s idea that a bandleader is like a chef who mixes ingredients in just the right proportions to enhance the final dish, La Vella celebrates this anniversary by inviting other musicians to join them in a four-concert journey — three of them at Jamboree — that will be both a tribute to jazz history and a showcase of its present in Catalonia.
