Italian music has always had quite an army of followers here in Catalonia, from the time of black-and-white or Technicolor films and the radio playing songs like “La bambola”, “Senza fine” and “Amore fermatti”. Today these are immortal pieces of music – classics of 20th-century popular culture. Laura Milazzo, an Italian musician who trained in Barcelona and still lives here, recovers some of this repertoire on the album Tutta colpa della musica, released thanks to a crowdfunding campaign. Milazzo offers us a journey to the world of Italian songs of the 1960s and ‘70s and artists like Mina, Gino Paoli and Tenco – the music she says “my parents used to listen to – the soundtrack to my childhood”. She guides us there in the language of jazz, to the rhythm of swing and bossa nova, with one or two surprises and a magnificent band. From Barcelona to Barcellona with Laura Milazzo.
