Saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, drummer Tom Rainey and double bassist Brandon López are three artists of international reference in the current avant-garde jazz scene; three musicians who add up very relevant trajectories, as sidemen and as leaders of their projects, with discographies hailed by fans and critics. At the Jamboree they will present a record, ‘No es la playa’, published by the very prestigious label Intakt, an emblematic label in the field of freestyle, in which they have published some of their best works. Recorded live at the Barbès Cube, a temple of free music – and more – in Brooklyn (New York), this guard trio apparently achieved something unheard of in this kind of encounter: without any preconceived ideas, they establish from the first note such an extreme degree of complicity, of interpretative excellence, that it seemed as if they had played together all their lives as a trio. “The interaction between the three worked so naturally and effortlessly that it almost bordered on telepathy,” says the group’s promotional sheet.
