Presentation of the album Canto de Montañas (Fresh Sound New Talent)
Luis Nacht sax, Sergio Wagner trumpet, Dani Perez guitar, Masa Kamaguchi double bass, David Xirgu drums.
Visiting us from Buenos Aires is Luis Nacht, an old friend of the Plaça Reial cellar club, where he has performed several times. Nacht was a follower of George Coleman and sideman for Óscar Giunta, Carlos Actis Dato and Sergio Verdinelli, among others. Making his debut at the beginning of the 2000s, with the album Nacht Musik, he was named “best newcomer” by the newspaper Clarín and the album was chosen as one of the five best of the year by the sadly missed magazine Cuadernos de Jazz. Since then, he has released seven more CDs, the latest of which, Canto de Montañas (FSNT) is considered an example of “creativity, good taste and balance between writing and improvisation” (Argentjazz) and an album “with a coherent style and powerful creativity” (Pàgina 12). Nacht is undoubtedly one of the great names in jazz in Argentina, a country of extraordinary musicians, and an example of creative freedom and originality on the contemporary jazz scene.
