MANONGO MUJICA & TERJE EVENSEN - Jamboree Jazz

Presentation of the album Paracas Ritual (Buh, 2020)

Manongo Mujica percussion, effects and drums, Terje Evensen drums and electronica.

From somewhere between jazz, electronica and ancestral sounds, the Peruvian Manongo Mujica and the Norwegian Terje Evensen present Paracas Ritual, a concert by the duo staged with two drum kits including percussion instruments like Indian metal plates, African udus and Tibetan bells. With expansive techniques and electro-acoustic sounds, Mujica and Evensen offer us an immersive sound experience combining ancestral cultures and sounds with other avantgarde ones. Paracas Ritual is the result of research by Mujica and Evensen in the desert region of Paracas Bay, south of Lima. The two creative musicians spent long days there listening to and recording sounds. Mujica is one of the great creative figures in Latin American music. He has been working since the early 1970s and has released many solo albums. He is the founder of bands like Perújazz and projects with Susana Baca and Enrique Luna, among others. Meanwhile, Terje Evensen is a specialist in mixing jazz and electronica. His CV includes work with Nils Peter Molvaer and John Paul Jones.
