Marc Demuth & Irene Reig Quartet Luxemburg meets Barcelona

The Luxembourgish double bassist Marc Demuth and the Catalan saxophonist Irene Reig premiere and co-lead a new project, which emerged in an artistic residency with young musicians from Barcelona and Luxembourg. As a quintet, they present several compositions arranged together and songs composed during the residency. Marc Demuth stands out among the new generation of jazz musicians in Europe. Founder of different groups, he has won awards such as the prestigious Jazz Vocal Crest (2010), for a project with the Portuguese singer Sofia Ribeiro. He has also shared the stage with Michael Brecker, Kenny Werner, Slide Hampton, Erwin Van, Hein van de Geyn, Florian Weber, Jef Neve and other jazz figures. For her part, Irene Reig is one of the most outstanding saxophonists in current jazz. With his trio, completed by Pau Sala and Joan Casares, he has played on numerous renowned stages and festivals. He has also received the AMJM Award for Emerging Talent, for the album ‘Mira’ (The Changes, 2021), and has been a finalist for the Alicia and Enderrock awards. He leads The Bop Collective, an octet with the best of new jazz in Barcelona.

The residency project has the support of: Taller de Músics, Kultur | lx -Arts Council Luxembourg, Neimënster Abbey and Jamboree, and with the collaboration of: Fabra i Coats – Fàbrica de Creació.

This project is part of Actions for New Musicians and is a co-production of Taller de Músics and Acción Cultural Española.
