MARTA SIERRA QUARTET - Jamboree Jazz
MARTA SIERRA QUARTET

Marta Sierra violin & vocals, Fredrik Carlquist clarinet, Leo Hipaucha guitar, Stuart Grant double bass.

The Marta Sierra Quartet is a group inspired by the manouche jazz scene of Paris in the 1930s and ‘40s – music made popular by violinist Stéphane Grappelli and guitarist Django Reinhardt. Sierra and his band perform American jazz standards popular in France at the time and well-known gypsy jazz and French song tunes. Marta Sierra has been gaining ground in recent years as the leader of her own group. She stands out on the Barcelona scene for her “hot club swing sound.” Sierra plays regularly in Barcelona and also all over Catalonia, sometimes expanding the repertoire and the group with extra guests. She also often performs in Parisat well-known venues like the 38Riv club, Le Chat Noir restaurant or the historic gypsy jazz venue La Chope des Puces, where she has even performed with big manouche jazz names including Dorado Schmit, Florin Niculescu and Costel Nitescu.
