Martí Mitjavila Trio
Martí Mitjavila Casals clarinet and bass clarinet, Simon Esquivel Osuna doublebass, David Puime Pérez drums.
With a style rooted in tradition, but an eye on contemporary trends, the young Martí Mitjavila (Barcelona, 2000) leads an unusual trio – clarinet-double bass-drums – with a repertoire of original and classic jazz songs. Settled in the Netherlands, he has recorded an album ‘Around the Corner’, with two illustrious figures from the Dutch scene: Joris Roelofs and Gideon Tazelaar. Not surprisingly, Mitjavila has already performed at events as famous as the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, and received an award at the very prestigious international competition Keep an Eye, in Amsterdam. A follower of the likes of George Coleman, Dick Oatts, Reggie Workman and Jasper Bloom, Martí Mitjavila is one of the great talents on the new European jazz scene.
