Martín Leiton "Desde A Bajo" - Jamboree Jazz

Marin Leiton double bass, Toni Saigi piano, Santi de la Rubia saxo, Andreu Pitarch drums.

Leiton’s quartet began with the coexistence of several generations of musicians on the Barcelona scene and the Canary Island double bassist’s approach to the various facets of jazz, which is so extensive and so difficult to classify and label. Martín Leiton’s main influences range from Lee Konitz to Charles Mingus, via Wayne Shorter and Thelonious Monk. Although the double bass plays the traditional role attributed to it in this group, the accompaniment is particularly important, thanks to Andreu Pitarch on drums, and the ingenuity and creativity of the soloists Santi de la Rubia and Toni Saigi. The three performers round out Leiton’s music and develop their own ideas to complete this approach that was originally all about the double bass.
