The Modo 5 group is performing for the first time in Barcelona.

This ensemble, with a second album under its belt and a significant trajectory in its country of origin, arrives to present original compositions that reflect diversity and depth in its musical exploration.

The pieces, conceived by the group’s own members, explore an intricate rhythmic development that draws from Latin American folk roots before expanding into irregular rhythms and meters, inspired by folklores as diverse as Bulgarian music and the Balkan Peninsula.

In terms of harmony, Modo 5 ventures into a vast territory ranging from jazz to musical impressionism, thus offering a wide field for orchestration, improvisation, and live sound experimentation. Through poetic lyrics, the compositions address contemporary social issues as well as personal experiences, providing the audience with an opportunity for deep introspection.

Among the musical influences are composers such as Guillermo Klein, Alberto Ginastera, L.A. Spinetta, Rebecca Martin, Carla Bley, Edward Simon, and David Binney.

In 2022, Modo 5 released its first album and audiovisual project, “Casa,” with the support of the FNA Creation Grant and under the label “Isla Desierta.” On this occasion, they will present material from both this debut album and their latest work, recorded in December 2023, once again with the support of the FNA Creation Grant.
