A student and now a teacher at the Taller de Músics, the saxophonist Pablo Martín fell in love with jazz listening to Benny Goodman and Sydney Bechet. And he soon switched over to it, with Marcel·lí Bayer, Vicent Macián and Raül Reverter as his teachers, after initially studying classical music. Martín leads a trio with varied influences, from hard-bop to pop-jazz and contemporary jazz sounds. The feel of the group is inspired by the sound of historic trios without harmonic instrumentation, such as the line-ups put together by Sonny Rollins and Joe Henderson or, in our own time, Fly, with Mark Turner. Since 2019, the Pablo Martín Trio has received various awards, including the first prize in the Talent 2020 awards organised by the Taller de Músics, with the support of Acción Cultural Española. They have also recorded a first album, State of the Trio: Live at Nova Jazz Cava, which they will present at the Jamboree.
