Conversaciones is the title of an extraordinary album on which the Canary Island violinist Pablo Rodríguez and the Cuban pianist Humberto Ríos explore the links between the Canary Islands and the island of Cuba, through jazz, folk and impressionist classical music. The result is a delicious, flowing, evocative dialogue featuring unique registers, when the violin becomes a little guitar or percussion instrument, and the piano is played from the inside. Rodríguez and Ríos build their elegant landscapes and atmospheres with improvisation, but never lose sight of the melodic component. A dialogue in sound through jazz and the traditional music of the Canary Islands and Cuba.
