PETROS KLAMPANIS TRIO

Irrationalities

Petros Klampanis double bass and compositions, Kristjan Randalu piano, Bodek Janke drums and tabla.

The Greek double bass player Petros Klampanis is one of the great names on the New York scene, where he has forged his own identity marked by Eastern and Western influences with nods to pop, Classical music, folk and other creative styles. Klampanis has worked with figures of the calibre of Greg Osby, Shai Maestro, Gilad Hekselman, Ari Hoening, Antonio Sánchez and Snarky Puppy. He has played at festivals in Europe and the US and at venues like Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center and the Blue Note. He has also recorded albums such as Minor Dispute (2015), one of the best albums of that year according to American National Public Radio or, more recently, Rooftop Stories (2021). He has led a trio in New York for more than a decade with two musicians from different parts of the world in which he explores his facet as a composer. The music he produces is based on landscapes, energy, sensuality and, above all, excellence.
