RANDY GREER & IGNASI TERRAZA TRIO

Matthew Randal Greer IV was born in San Francisco in 1960. Grandson of Duke Ellington’s famous drummer Sonny Greer, he was “baptised” by Charlie Mingus at his parents’ Soulville club. While his origins are steeped in jazz, his voice recalls that of Nat King Cole, with a romantic tone and plenty of swing, and other greats like Cab Calloway, Stevie Wonder and Ella Fitzgerald. In 1991, Greer and Terraza came together for the first time on stage, sharing their admiration and respect for the great Cole. Today, after different joint projects, including their own versions of Christmas carols, they have decided to return to Cole’s music in the company of Horacio Fumero and Josep Traver. Romanticism and swing with intimate, joyful music, at once sensitive and expansive, that moves and touches us. A set of timeless pieces which, in the hands of Greer and Terraza, sound more contemporary than ever.
