RAPHAEL WRESSNIG & THE SOUL GIFT BAND ft. Gisele Jackson - Jamboree Jazz
RAPHAEL WRESSNIG & THE SOUL GIFT BAND ft. Gisele Jackson

Raphael Wressnig, Hammond B-3 and vocals, Gisele Jackson vocals (Sunday 4), Enrico Crivellaro guitar, Hans-Jürgen Bart drums.

Raphael Wressnig is not a performer serving the Hammond B-3, he is a virtuoso musician who displays an energetic, flowing style which he has christened “organ-heavy soul & funk”. The most syncopated rhythms of Afro-American music are revived by Wressnig’s hands, and feet. The musician, of Austrian origin, combines vocals and melodies with the sound of the keyboard and, at the same type plays top-class bass. He is also creator of his own distinctive style, mixing elements of soul, funk, jazz and blues. Considered “Best Organist of the Year” by readers of Downbeat magazine, Wressnig leads a group, the Soul Gift Band, with which he offers a thrilling show. Raphael Wressnig & The Soul Gift Band has released 20 albums, with titles like Soul Gumbo, recorded in New Orleans with figures like Jon Cleary, George Porter Jr (The Meters) and Walter “Wolfman” Washington, and “Chicken Burrito”, in the company of the drummer James Gadson. Described by Downbeat as a “virtuoso” group with “unstoppable groove”, they are at the basement club in the Plaça Reial for two nights.

Sunday’s performance will have the star collaboration of the great Gisele Jackson, one of the most important voices in Afro-American music who has worked with Ray Charles, Donna Summer and James Brown and recorded hits like “Love Commandments”.
