In recent years Wax & Boogie have established themselves as one of the best and most highly rated line-ups on the blues, rhythm and blues, and boogie-woogie scene. Singer Ster Wax and pianist David Giorcelli have captured the true spirit of traditional African-American music like few others, while transforming it into their means of expression. Wax & Boogie’s knowledge of the language of black music is broad, rich and varied. On this occasion, they take to the stage with the backing and wild arrangements of the Barcelona Big Blues Band (BBBB). Led by Serbian double bassist Ivan Kovacevic, the BBBB is one of the most powerful orchestras on the country’s swing, jazz, blues and r ‘n’ r circuit – a band that creates a wild, energetic yet sophisticated sound and a classic of the Jamboree programme.
