(ROMA-BCN Reunion)
Roberto Tarenzi piano, Matteo Bortone double bass, Gonzalo del Val drums.
There are those who see jazz as music that “tells stories”, not only through technique and the art of composition, but also through its mixture of styles and, above all, based on the personality of the musician as a creative force. The Italian Roberto Tarenzi is a worthy representative of this school, both as a performer of the standard repertoire and as a composer. Finalist in the prestigious Thelonious Monk Competition (2006), Tarenzi has played with the greatest of the genre: from Max Roach to Franco Ambrosetti, not forgetting Bob Brookmeyer, David Murray, Enrico Rava and a long list of others. Since 2008 he has lived in Rome, where he has led several line-ups and worked with Stefano DiBatista, Rosario Giuliani, Roberto Gatto and others. At the Jamboree, he will perform in a trio with Matteo Bortone and Gonzalo del Val, two fellow greats of today’s jazz scene.
