Sandra Rehder vocals, Elbi Olalla piano

The Argentinian Sandra Rehder is one of the most important artists on the tango scene in Barcelona, a city which was the “third homeland of the tango” for a good many years. Rehder, who we have heard at the Jamboree leading different projects, returns to the Plaça Reial club to share the stage with the pianist Elbi Olalla. Like her, Olalla was born in Mendoza where “the mountain air affects the way they look at art”, as Rehder herself puts it. Olalla and Rehder will offer a repertoire with classic tangos, milongas and waltzes from composers like Carlos Gardel, Celedonio Flores, Charlo and Eladia Vázquez, as well as pieces they have written themselves. In the words of Sandra Rehder, she and Elbi Olalla are “two upright, liberated and liberating women, as irreverent as the tango.” So, what she said!
