Chameleonic pianist Sergi Sirvent has formed a trio with two stalwarts from the catalan jazz scene and will be presenting a classic show without abandoning the rich colors he has cultivated with his palette as a composer or his open approach to the possibilities of the genre. With the Smooth Trio, Sirvent approaches jazz from a compositional simplification, building a repertoire closer to trios like those of Ahmad Jamal or Bud Powell while still offering an ode to other styles like Lennie Tristano and even Paul Bley in his early years.
