SHALOSH - Jamboree Jazz
SHALOSH

Broken Balance

Gadi Stern piano, David Michaeli bass, Matan Assayag drums.

Shalosh is a trio that belongs to the new generation of groups with a patina of heterodoxy and modernity, with which they also reach audiences a long way from jazz. Their music is direct, current, energetic, acoustic and progressive, cutting across boundaries. Despite being a typical piano trio line-up with a traditional background in jazz and improvised music, the members of Shalosh create their own style and acknowledge influences from genres such as rock, classical, electronic, African and Middle Eastern music. Founded in 2014 between Jerusalem and New York, where pianist Stern was living at the time, in less than ten years the Shalosh trio has achieved first-rate goals: two albums released by the leading label Act, performances at prestigious venues and festivals, and a far-reaching international publicity: reviews in The Times, The Guardian and Downbeat, thousands of listens on Spotify, and so on. A true phenomenon of contemporary jazz in the Plaça Reial basement.
