Simon Moullier Quartet - Jamboree Jazz

Simon Moullier vibraphone, Rob Clearfield piano, Mats Sandahl bass and Jongkuk Kim drums.

Quincy Jones spoke of Moullier as “the best vibraphone player I have ever heard”. Herbie Hancock declared that “he had never heard the vibraphone played like this”. Born in Paris in 1994, Moullier first picked up the mallets when he was in secondary school. He immediately stood out as an original virtuoso on the instrument. Trained in classical percussion, he completed his studies in the USA at Berklee College of Music and the Thelonious Monk Institute, performing with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, John Patitucci, Miguel Zenón, Jimmy Heath and other leading figures. In 2020, he made his solo debut with the album ‘Spirit Song’ (OIM), and in 2021 he released the CD ‘Countdown’ (Fresh Sound), a finalist at the Jazz Music Awards. At Mas i Mas ‘23, he will present the third album of their career, in quartet format: ‘Isla’ (2023).
