Sofie Dee vocals, August Tharrats piano.
The energetic singer Sofie Dee comes from Flanders and trained at the conservatory in Ghent (Belgium), where she graduated with a master’s degree in jazz and pop. She later appeared with groups such as the North Side Big Band and was also on the European tour of the musical Grease. She currently conducts the Urban Choir from the Let’s Go Urban Academy in Antwerp. At the Jamboree, she will perform as half of a duo, accompanied by August Tharrats, considered to be the pioneer of blues and boogie-woogie piano in Spain. An old friend of the Plaça Reial basement club, Tharrats is a founding member of bands such as the Blues Messengers and Tandoori LeNoir. He recorded four CDs with the Txell Sust & August Tharrats Trio and became a classic of blues programming at the Jamboree in the 1990s. Dee and Tharrats make an exceptional intergenerational duo of true blues.
