The Place of Dead Roads
Liba Villavecchia alto sax, Diego Caicedo electric guitar, Oriol Roca drums, Andrés Rojas López-Abadía modular synthesiser.
Formed of four of the most active musicians in the free improvisation and avant-garde jazz scene in Barcelona, the Hung Mung grouping is able to take unsuspecting directions in each performance. Its name is derived from a character of the same name, chaotic and absurd, from the writings of Chuang Tzu, who in turn also represents the phase of the primordial chaos in the discordant cosmogony. Hung Mung published his first record with the Polish record label Multikulti in early 2020, which also invited them to participate in the Spontaneous Music Festival in Poznan. They have since released eight more discs with Discordian Records. At first, the formation was a trio, often with special guests such as the American saxophonist Mars Williams, the Portuguese trumpeter Luis Vicente, the Siberian pianist Roman Stolyar and the Catalan saxophonist Liba Villavecchia. The latter has become a stable member of the formation for a year. The Jamboree will present their last project, and will have as their special guest on drummer Oriol Roca.
