Straddling jazz and other genres, the Guy Mintus Trio offers a unique repertoire with, for example, jazz adaptations of the works of Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin; arrangements of the traditional Israeli songbook; a revision of the music of George Gershwin – the material from his latest album – and, of course, his own songs. Mintus and his crew spontaneously combine this palette of styles masterfully. With roots in Morocco, Iraq and Poland, the Israeli Guy Mintus is a restless character – a musician who takes all kinds of different approaches: jazz, classical, traditional and even ska-punk. For his diligent work in different fields, he has received awards and recognition from institutions such as the Bernstein Foundation, Down Beat magazine and the Montreux Jazz Festival.
