With a stellar career spanning more than 30 years, Kenny Garrett has earned the title of the most important and influential saxophonist of his generation. And he’s earned it! He received a Grammy in 2010, and has an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music. From his debut with Duke Ellington’s Orchestra, and throughout his career, which includes playing in the Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw bands, with Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers and with Miles Davis, Garrett has always maintained a characteristic sound and a very distinctive melody. In the last 20 years he has continued to stand out as a composer and leader of his own group, with a long, prolific recording career. At the Jamboree he will present his latest album, ‘Sounds From The Ancestors’ (Mack Avenue, 2021), on which he approaches the primordial sounds of African-American music with his inimitable energetic style. A titan of modern jazz comes to Jamboree 3.
