Tobias Meinhart Quartet (NYC) – Bold, cinematic jazz from Brooklyn
Brooklyn-based saxophonist and composer Tobias Meinhart, hailed as “Germany’s biggest talent on the saxophone” by JazzThing Magazine, is a standout voice in modern jazz. Named a Rising Star in the prestigious DownBeat Critics Poll, Meinhart has built an international career centered around storytelling through music, performing at top festivals including Winter Jazzfest (NYC), Jarasum Jazz Festival (South Korea), and Mexico City Jazz Festival. He’s also appeared at legendary clubs such as Blue Note, Smalls, and Birdland.
His latest album, Sonic River, produced by Grammy-winner Matt Pierson, is an immersive musical journey inspired by literature and the rhythm of New York City. The album features a world-class lineup: Eden Ladin (Avishai Cohen, Terence Blanchard) on piano, Matt Penman (SFJAZZ Collective, Joshua Redman) on bass, and Mark Whitfield Jr. (Kenny Garrett, Terence Blanchard) on drums. Together, they deliver a cinematic, groove-heavy sound full of emotional depth—expanding the boundaries of contemporary jazz.
