TONI SOLÀ QUARTET - Jamboree Jazz

Toni Solà tenor saxo, Gerard NietopianoIgnasi González double bass & electric bass, Roger Gutiérrez drums.

Toni Solà (Barcelona, 1966) is a leading tenor sax player in this country: a musician with a long career including eight solo albums and countless collaborations with Spanish and international artists. Solà has always been characterised by his very personal sound: a voice of his own that connects with the most established jazz classics like lllinois Jacquet and Gene Amons and with great names from contemporary bop: Sonny Rollins and other figures. Harry Allen, Pee Wee Ellis, Valery Ponomarev, Jesper Thilo, Michele Hendriks, Lila Ammons, Charmin Michele and Dany Doriz are among the masters he has played with. Most important of these is the tenor sax player Scott Hamilton, with whom he has been working since 2005. As a group leader, he has released records that have won Enderrock Awards and been rated with five stars by the British magazine Jazz Journal. In his quartet, Solà explores a wide range of registers: from swing to hard bop, including ballads and blues. The repertoire includes pieces by classic jazz composers and his own tunes. He naturally and sincerely alternates moments of great intensity with more lyrical, delicate approaches, all linked by his extraordinary personality and talent.
