Tonina comes from a family of music lovers that exposed her to many styles of music, from funk, soul, and jazz to classical. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, of African-American and Sicilian descent. All these components have given him an unmatched musical range playing many different genres but making each one his own. His sense of rhythm, melody, and extraordinary voice and interpretation of songs make his performances an exciting experience for all listeners.

After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Tonina opened for Grammy Award-winning artist Lalah Hathaway in St. Louis, traveled to perform at the Catania Jazz Festival in Sicily, and was named one of NPR’s Favorite New Artists of 2018. and later included in the lists. as one of NPR’s Top 10 Artists of 2018. His rendition of “Historia de un amor” was included in former President Barack Obama’s 100 Favorite Songs of 2018. In 2019, Tonina signed with the American label Empire Records. To this day, he performs with his band in Los Angeles and around the world.
