TRONIK TONI SAIGI - Jamboree Jazz

Presentation “Plisisiplis” (Fresh Sound New Talent)

Toni Saigi piano, Jaume Ferrer tenor sax, Marc Cuevas double bass, Carlos Falanga drums.

One of an illustrious dynasty of musicians, young Toni Saigi is one of the greatest pianists on our jazz scene. Under the auspices of the “Underpool laboratory” – a generator of extraordinary ways of making music – in spring 2017 this musician from Badalona founded a quartet “devoted heart and soul to jazz and to working for jazz”, as he puts it. The line-up consists of figures from different generations on our jazz scene. The aim was to perform their own music – a series of compositions drawing directly on the jazz of the fifties and sixties, but also contemporary composers and other local musicians. At Underpool’s studios in Esplugues, Saigi and his group recorded the CD La prinsire de la sal, one of the best albums of 2018. Without giving up the essence of La prinsire de la sal, a few months ago Saigi and his band did it again with Plisisiplis (Fresh Sound New Talent, 2021), the album they are presenting at the Jamboree.
