Voll-Damm Festival de Jazz de Barcelona – SOFIA RIBEIRO TRIO
Sofia Ribeiro voice, Bartolomeo Barenghi guitar and, Marcelo Woloski percussions.
Sofia Ribeiro made her debut at the Barcelona Jazz Festival last year with a commissioned concert proposed by Jazz & Food, inspired by the Circle Songs of Bobby McFerrin, with whom she has collaborated for years. Portuguese living in Catalonia for several years, Ribeiro is another of the great universal artists who live among us, and every encounter with her is truly inspiring. She will be at the Jamboree with a stellar trio without a piano, completed by two of her regular collaborators: guitarist Bartolomeo Barenghi and percussionist Marcelo Woloski. “There is a lot of space, interaction and improvisation between the three of them, and sometimes we invite the public to sing with us”, explains the singer from Vila Nova de Gaia, next to Porto. “We make the arrangements between the three of us – he continues -, navigating between the harmonies of jazz, the rhythms of Brazil and the sounds of Portugal.” A proposal, we add, full of sensitivity, virtuosity and delicacy.
