The Xavi Maldonado Quintet is a group that brings together four young musicians residing in Barcelona, but from different backgrounds. Their close friendship and passion for the music of John Coltrane, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and the Second Quintet of Miles Davis united them in late 2023. After several sessions experimenting with traditional jazz, bringing it into a more contemporary and spiritual realm, they now focus on performing original compositions by the members of the group.
The quintet is in constant pursuit of new sounds, exploring and developing collective improvisation while embracing free jazz. They stand out for the interaction between members and the energy that emerges in each concert, making every performance a unique experience.
