The pianist Xavi Torres is currently one of the most sought-after musicians in Europe. Trained in classical music and jazz, he has won various international awards and has been a finalist in the Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition, the biggest jazz competition in the world. In this project, entitled ‘A Kind of Beethoven’, he reviews some of the principal works in the history of music: Ludwig van Beethoven’s piano sonatas. Torres offers a musical journey through some of the best-known sonatas written by the brilliant German composer, to which he adds his personal touch, exploring all possibilities in sound – improvisation, rhythm and new textures – always respecting the original work.
