Pianist Yonathan Avishai is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive voices of his generation. Known for being the right-hand man of trumpeter Avishai Cohen, he stands out for his technical excellence and a magnetism that captivates from the first note — “he gives the impression of composing silences and sculpting melodies,” according to the artist’s promotional material. Based in France, in 2019 he released two works on the prestigious ECM label: ‘Joys and Solitudes,’ as a solo artist, and ‘Playing the Room,’ with Avishai Cohen. A few months ago, he released his first solo piano album: ‘Retrouvailles’ (Paradis Improvisé). At Jamboree, he will perform with Yoni Zelnik and Donald Kontomanou, forming a group with its own personality, but also with the classic elements of great piano trios: swing, blues, and improvisation.
