SUMMARY:Leo Sidran & The Groovy French Band
DESCRIPTION:Leo Sidran guitar & vocals · Max Darmon bass · Paul Sany piano · Romain Bouiges drums \nLeo Sidran\, a Grammy-winning composer\, multi-instrumentalist\, and producer\, has built his career at the intersection of jazz\, pop\, Brazilian music\, and the singer-songwriter tradition. His live show brings all these worlds together in a groove-driven concert built around songs\, stories\, and musical conversation. \nSidran began composing professionally as a teenager\, when the Steve Miller Band recorded four of his songs\, and has since released ten solo albums. His production credits include Jorge Drexler’s Oscar-winning “Al otro lado del río” and Alex Cuba’s Latin Grammy-winning Healer\, as well as more than two decades of recordings with his father\, jazz pianist Ben Sidran. His collaboration with Spanish singer and actress Leonor Watling\, Leo & Leo\, won Best Jazz Album at Spain’s 2026 Academy of Music Awards. \nSidran’s music combines intelligence and melody\, delivered with an understated vocal style\, a deep sense of rhythm\, and a distinctive sense of humor. Jazz Magazine summed it up this way: “Leo Sidran makes pop music swing.” For JazzTimes\, his compositions are “intelligent\, incisive\, and dazzlingly original.” \nSidran is joined by his regular collaborators\, The Groovy French Band: Max Darmon on bass\, Paul Sany on keyboards\, and Romain Bouiges on drums. After more than a decade of playing together\, their chemistry is relaxed\, elegant\, and deeply rhythmic\, combining the freedom of a jazz group with the precision of a great pop band. \nDrawing on songs from across his catalogue and his new album\, Leo’s My Name\, Sidran weaves music together with stories from a lifetime spent surrounded by musicians and making records. The result is sophisticated yet informal\, entertaining without turning into a comedy show\, and above all rooted in the pleasure of hearing songs performed by musicians who have spent years listening to one another. \n“There is nothing superficial about this singer who\, like no other\, combines nonchalance with great subtlety.” — Télérama\, France \n“Leo Sidran makes pop music swing\, in the tradition of Mose Allison and Nat King Cole.” — Jazz Magazine\, France \n“Musically and lyrically\, his compositions are intelligent\, incisive\, and dazzlingly original.” — JazzTimes\, USA \n“A discreet genius of pop jazz.” — Fernando Neira\, Spain \n“Sidran navigates the difficulties of everyday life with elegance and swing\, inviting us to smile and reflect.” — West Coast Soul\, Germany
