SUMMARY:Sofia Ribeiro
DESCRIPTION:Sofia Ribeiro vocals and ukulele · Manel Ferreira 7-string guitar and Portuguese guitar · Marta Roma cello · Carlos Montfort violin \nSofia Ribeiro\, a singer with a magnificent and versatile voice\, with a career that includes 11 albums released under her name\, several international awards\, and performances in more than 20 countries\, presents her new project. Known for her emotional and energetic performances —in which she tells the stories behind the songs with enthusiasm and invites the audience to sing along— the charismatic Sofia Ribeiro has captivated listeners worldwide with her warm and powerful timbre for nearly two decades. She was born with “the talent to awaken a mix of emotions in just a few minutes” (OJE\, Portugal)\, and her music is “an appealing blend of styles ranging from jazz to fado” (Jazz History Online\, United States). \nThis new project is built upon an immersive string-based sound —Portuguese guitar\, seven-string guitar\, violin\, and cello— creating a warm and profound atmosphere. The interaction between the musicians and improvisation are fundamental to the essence of the project\, where playfulness takes a central role. The album aims to build a bridge between the traditional and the contemporary\, through a dialogue between elements from different musical heritages\, creating a meeting point between the harmonic sophistication of jazz\, Latin rhythms\, and the simple yet deeply emotional essence of fado.
