Their original music has also been featured at major festivals in Spain (Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival, Mas i Mas Festival) and Mexico.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3726\" data-end=\"3956\">Blending post-bop, free improvisation, and elements of Spanish folk music, the trio\u2019s work has received widespread critical acclaim. \u00c1lvaro Torres has been described as \u201c<em>one of the future great promises of the genre.<\/em>\u201d \u2014 La Raz\u00f3n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3958\" data-end=\"4142\"><strong>Torres<\/strong> has collaborated with true New York legends such as <strong>Barry Altschul, Nasheet Waits, Francisco Mela, Tony Malaby, John H\u00e9bert, Chris Lightcap, Jeff Hirshfield, and Bill McHenry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4144\" data-end=\"4345\">For this concert, he will be joined by his long-standing European trio: master drummer <strong>Francisco Mela<\/strong> and Japanese bassist <strong>Masa Kamaguchi<\/strong>, two key figures with strong ties to the New York jazz scene.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"81au5p\" data-start=\"4347\" data-end=\"4367\">Francisco Mela<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4368\" data-end=\"4559\">Cuban drummer <strong>Francisco Mela<\/strong> is one of the most respected musicians in today\u2019s jazz scene, having collaborated with artists such as <strong>Chucho Vald\u00e9s, Joe Lovano, Kenny Barron, and McCoy Tyner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4561\" data-end=\"4776\">Born in Bayamo, he moved to Boston in 2000 to study at Berklee College of Music, where he is now also a faculty member. He quickly became part of the U.S. jazz scene while developing his own voice as a bandleader.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4778\" data-end=\"4964\">He has collaborated with artists such as <strong>Esperanza Spalding, Lionel Loueke<\/strong>, and <strong>Anat Cohen<\/strong>, and has released several albums as a leader, including his project <em data-start=\"4937\" data-end=\"4941\">FE<\/em> with the <strong>Crash Trio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1ocdjnw\" data-start=\"4966\" data-end=\"4985\">\u00c1lvaro Torres<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4986\" data-end=\"5473\">Pianist and composer <strong>\u00c1lvaro Torres<\/strong> is an emerging voice in New York\u2019s creative jazz scene. His international trajectory has taken him to cities such as Kathmandu, Barcelona, Copenhagen, and Berlin, all of which have deeply influenced his music.
