The album brings together a remarkable quintet featuring some of today\u2019s most sought-after jazz musicians: <strong data-start=\"4093\" data-end=\"4106\">Joel Ross<\/strong> on vibraphone, <strong data-start=\"4122\" data-end=\"4138\">Paul Cornish<\/strong> on piano, <strong data-start=\"4149\" data-end=\"4168\">Harish Raghavan<\/strong> on bass and <strong data-start=\"4181\" data-end=\"4199\">Kendrick Scott<\/strong> on drums.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4211\" data-end=\"4544\">Produced by acclaimed saxophonist <strong data-start=\"4245\" data-end=\"4265\">Walter Smith III<\/strong>\u2014once <strong>Groover<\/strong>\u2019s hero and now his colleague at Berklee College of Music\u2014the record moves toward a more open musical approach, centered on interaction and spontaneity. The eleven compositions are designed to highlight the distinctive tonal personalities of each member of the band.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4546\" data-end=\"4824\">At just 32, <strong>Groover<\/strong> serves as Assistant Chair of Berklee\u2019s Ensemble Department and Interim Director of the <strong data-start=\"4653\" data-end=\"4678\">Global Jazz Institute<\/strong>, founded by <strong data-start=\"4691\" data-end=\"4707\">Danilo P\u00e9rez<\/strong>. The album was recorded without rehearsal, relying on the musicians\u2019 shared intuition and Groover\u2019s artistic vision.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4826\" data-end=\"5239\"><strong>Groover<\/strong>\u2019s deep spiritual connection to music\u2014rooted in his upbringing as the son of the pastor of Boston\u2019s historic Charles Street A.M.E. Church\u2014adds emotional depth to the project. The blend of tenor saxophone and vibraphone, Ross\u2019s expressive playing, Cornish\u2019s thoughtful approach, Raghavan\u2019s balance of intensity and care, and Scott\u2019s dynamic rhythmic energy create the vibrant sound world <strong>Groover<\/strong> envisioned.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5241\" data-end=\"5508\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The title <em data-start=\"5251\" data-end=\"5261\">Old Knew<\/em> reflects how creative sparks and shared experiences shape an artist\u2019s path.
