{"id":132743,"date":"2026-04-30T15:42:38","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T13:42:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jamboreejazz.com\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=132743"},"modified":"2026-05-07T13:32:42","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T11:32:42","slug":"garland-keezer-festival-de-jazz-de-barcelona","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/jamboreejazz.com\/en\/event\/garland-keezer-festival-de-jazz-de-barcelona\/","title":{"rendered":"Garland \/ Keezer \u2013 Festival de Jazz de Barcelona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tim Garland<\/strong> saxophone \u00b7 <strong>Geoffrey Keezer<\/strong> piano<\/p>\n<p>The transatlantic meeting started 25 years ago with <strong>Garland<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Made By Walking<\/em> album on Chick Corea\u2019s label and continued with three albums with the \u201cStorms\/Nocturnes\u201d trio (also featuring <strong>Joe Locke<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tim Garland<\/strong> and <strong>Geoffrey Keezer<\/strong>, both seasoned players have globe-trotted with some of the most famous players in music and show their crystalline lyrical maturity as well as incendiary virtuosity in a set that features one new and rare instrument after which the new album is named: <strong>MEZZO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are only 20 handmade Mezzo-Soprano saxophones in the world. <strong>Garland<\/strong>\u2019s rich and expressive sound on the Mezzo features on six tracks, with the remaining two featuring his celebrated regular soprano.<br \/>\nWith references to a fully acoustic classical sensibility as well as jazz, stunning originals sit alongside renditions of famous pieces by <strong>Satie<\/strong> (Gnossaine), <strong>Cole Porter<\/strong> (Every Time We Say Goodbye) and NY scene legend <strong>Mulgrew Miller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mezzo<\/strong> will be the first jazz album to showcase the Mezzo Soprano saxophone, and the project is an ideal showcase for music conventions and hybrid music festivals as well as international jazz festivals with and without amplification. A US \/ UK collaboration of global stature.<\/p>\n<p>As <strong>Peter Jessen<\/strong>, creator of the Mezzo Soprano Sax said recently, \u201c<em>Your sound and feel of it is really the realisation of everything I wanted it to be!
