JOSEP Mª FARRÀS QUARTET

Tete Montoliu once declared that the only good Catalan jazz musician was the trumpeter Josep Maria Farràs. It goes without saying that what he said caused controversy, but it also meant the critics and public paid more attention to the Terrassa trumpeter. Farràs is a truly top-class blower, an architect of the solo and of interpretation, and an admirer of Clifford Brown and Dizzy Gillespie, who over the years, has become a historic figure in Catalan jazz. He was one of the promoters of this style in the capital of Vallès and, during his long career, he has shared the stage with Johnny Griffin, Slide Hampton, Joe Henderson, Pony Poindexter and Tete himself. He particularly likes the most classical jazz, the most authentic bop, and he will demonstrate this for us with a repertoire that is bound to include standards like A Night in Tunisia, I Remember Clifford and Whisper Not.
