A journey to New Orleans through traditional jazz and gospel, led by vocalist and banjo player Carlos Childe and his band.
Carlos has toured and recorded with leading figures from the New Orleans jazz scene such as Joe Lastie, Carl LeBlanc, and Will Smith. Thanks to his dedication to this music, institutions like the Preservation Hall Foundation and the New Orleans Jazz Museum have supported the tour for Nola By Spain, his latest album, recorded in New Orleans in 2024 together with legendary drummer Joe Lastie (Irma Thomas, Professor Longhair, Preservation Hall Jazz Band). A project that builds a bridge between both cultures.
In 2014, he traveled to New Orleans for the first time, invited by Grammy-winning drummer Kerry “Fatman” Hunter of The New Orleans Night Crawlers. After this experience, he fell in love with the city’s sound, began returning regularly, and started performing in venues throughout the French Quarter.
At the same time, he has taken part in the production of a documentary series featuring interviews with musicians such as Little Freddie King, Gerald French, Louis Ford, Craig Klein, Ben Jaffe, and Greg Stafford, focusing on the musical history of the Mississippi city, titled In Their Own Voices.
