David Hazeltine piano · Ignasi González double bass · Xaver Hellmeier drums
David Hazeltine (over 50 million Spotify streams) is one of the few contemporary pianists who masters all fundamental musical skills, from improvisation and technique to accompaniment, arranging, and composition. It is therefore no surprise that he is the most recorded contemporary jazz pianist of our time, with thirty-five albums as a leader and hundreds more as a sideman, across several major record labels worldwide.
David Hazeltine has been a mainstay of the vibrant New York jazz scene for decades, where in his youth he was mentored by trumpeter Chet Baker. Inspired by postwar greats such as Charlie Parker and John Coltrane, he plays with a solid and nuanced expression that has continually renewed and reinterpreted the way traditional jazz can be performed. His style and expression have taken him to the world’s most prestigious stages, from New York’s Carnegie Hall to festivals across the globe. Over his career, he has collaborated with prominent artists including Ron Carter, Al Foster, Louis Hayes, Peter Washington, Joe Farnsworth, Eric Alexander, and George Mraz.
