Dry Martino (alter ego of M.A. Cordero) double bass, electronics · David Pastor trumpet, electronics · Santi de la Rubia tenor sax, electronics · Toni Pagès drums, octapad, electronics
Dry Martino is a contemporary jazz quartet that redefines the boundaries of the genre with a bold and innovative approach. Without traditional harmonic instruments, the trumpet, tenor sax, double bass, and drums weave a complex and fascinating rhythmic-melodic counterpoint.
Their sound explores a pentatonic polytonalism rich in nuance, ranging from the energy of Frank Zappa and Chick Corea’s Electric Band to the textural depth of John Zorn and Dave Douglas. The organic incorporation of electronics in all instruments adds layers of sonority and experimentation, offering a unique and captivating listening experience.
The repertoire is primarily based on original compositions by its leader, the double bassist Dry Martino.
