João Barreto Trio brings a unique lyrical language through a fusion of classical music, European jazz, and improvised music, with a strong connection to Portuguese folk identity through organic, song-like forms. The trio draws major inspiration from Mário Laginha, Bernardo Sassetti, Esbjörn Svensson, Keith Jarrett, and Brad Mehldau, while always remaining true to their own style.
For this concert, the programme will mainly feature compositions by pianist and bandleader João Barreto, alongside arrangements of Portuguese folk songs, creating a constant dialogue between the three musicians.
