Thana Alexa vocals & electronics
Special Guests: Shai Maestro piano · Christos Rafalides vibraphone · Antonio Sánchez drums
“A jazz singer with a global perspective,” wrote The New York Times about Thana Alexa, a vocalist born in New York but of Croatian heritage, multilingual and versatile across multiple languages and styles, as well as co-founder and musical director of the Ponta Lopud Jazz Festival in Croatia.
We saw her in 2024 as the vocalist of Antonio Sánchez’s Bad Hombre project during our celebration of International Jazz Day on Passeig de Gràcia (this year she returned as a special guest with Quiet Colors), but we now have the opportunity to present her at the festival for the first time as a bandleader, with a brand-new project and several stellar guests (and, surely, a few more surprises).
For this very special night at Jamboree, Thana Alexa will give us a preview of her upcoming album, in which she reimagines music ranging from the Beatles and Björk to Nina Simone and Stevie Wonder. At Jamboree, she tells us, the idea is to recreate the intimacy of these duets, enriched with vocal loops and electronic effects. An intense night of jazz among friends awaits us, right in the heart of Barcelona.
