Abe Rábade piano · Masa Kamaguchi double bass · Gonzalo del Val drums
The trio led by drummer and composer Gonzalo del Val brings together three leading instrumentalists from today’s jazz scene to explore a musical language in which contemporary jazz engages in dialogue with echoes of folk music, creating a sound characterised by fluid communication and expressiveness.
Alongside Gonzalo del Val, two distinctive figures in contemporary jazz, Abe Rábade and Masa Kamaguchi, create a sound rich in sensitivity, musical interaction and a language of its own. Their mutual understanding and shared creativity give rise to moments of genuine intensity: a repertoire that is as introspective as it is explosive, in which each musician does more than simply accompany the others, bringing their own distinctive and decisive voice to the trio’s musical narrative.
Últimas Rondas, the new album by Gonzalo del Val Trio, features six compositions by Gonzalo del Val, each named after a city and recorded live alongside Abe Rábade and Masa Kamaguchi. A twilight-inspired yet ambitious album that journeys through Seville, Prague, Coyoacán, Granada, Rome and Porto, weaving a sound that is as beautiful as it is fleeting. The album is dedicated to the composer’s mother, Mercedes Labaca.
The album is released by the prestigious record label Fresh Sound New Talent, an internationally recognised name in the promotion of contemporary jazz.
