Álvaro Torres trio is quickly establishing itself as one of the most compelling projects in contemporary jazz in New York.
“Artfully unpredictable… Extraordinary.” — All About Jazz
Endorsed by the iconic New York label Sunnyside Records, they have released their fourth album, Iris, and have performed at some of the city’s most prestigious venues, including The Jazz Gallery and Mezzrow. Their original music has also been featured at major festivals in Spain (Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival, Mas i Mas Festival) and Mexico.
With a style that blends post-bop, free improvisation, and elements of Spanish folklore, the trio’s work has received widespread critical acclaim. Álvaro Torres has been described as “one of the most promising future stars of the genre.” — La Razón
Torres has collaborated with true New York jazz legends such as Barry Altschul, John Hébert, Tony Malaby, Joe Fonda, and Bill McHenry.
For this concert, he is joined by his long-standing European trio: Danish master drummer Kresten Osgood and Japanese bassist Masa Kamaguchi, two key figures on the European scene with a strong connection to the New York jazz world.
