Roman Filiu saxo · Noslen Ortega percussio & congas · Renier Elizarde “El Negrón” double bass

Oremi Afrojazz is a project conceived as a space for the preservation and reinterpretation of the roots of Cuban musical tradition, in dialogue with the language of traditional jazz and the values of Hispanic-African heritage. Its proposal is built around an acoustic sound that evokes a mystical dimension, where the spirit of classic jazz meets the ancestral force of Cuban rumba.

The stage performance reflects a carefully crafted approach, grounded in clear ideas and a deep understanding of the musical context. The result is a show rich in intellect and Cuban flavor, offering an experience rooted in tradition and fusion, moving organically from rumba into jazz.

The project is composed of highly experienced musicians, with strong academic training from Cuba’s leading art schools and a notable international presence:

Román Filiú (alto saxophone): renowned Cuban musician, producer, arranger, and composer. He has collaborated with major figures in the international jazz scene and developed much of his career in New York. He was a member of the prestigious group Irakere.

Renier Elizarde “El Negrón” (double bass): one of the most outstanding double bass players in contemporary Cuban jazz. A graduate of the National School of Arts, his sound has traveled across stages worldwide, establishing him as an exceptional musician.

Noslen Ortega (percussion – congas): a young percussionist of remarkable artistic level and deep knowledge of Cuban folklore roots. He represents a new avant-garde in percussion, standing out for his creativity and interpretative style. Trained at the National School of Arts, he has participated in numerous projects showcasing his talent.

Oremi Afrojazz embodies the vitality and depth of afrojazz music: a bridge between tradition and contemporaneity, between the ancestral and the innovative.
