Guido Spannocchi – Keeping the flame alive
“Tradition means passing on the flame, not worshipping the ashes.” – Gustav Mahler
Vienna-born, London-based saxophonist Guido Spannocchi has carved out a distinctive voice in contemporary jazz, blending improvisation with a classical sensibility. With a strong international career and releases on his own label, he’s performed everywhere from Ronnie Scott’s to Tokyo Fashion Week, from New York to West Africa.
At Jamboree, he’ll be joined by a stellar trio: Aleph Aguilar (guitar), Jay Darwish (bass), and Pete Adam Hill (drums). Together, they present original music that fuses Calypso, Bossa Nova, and Bebop with elegance and groove.
“A wonderful musician, such great jazz.” – Kylie Minogue
“One of the most original voices in UK jazz today.” – BBC Radio 3
